Aunt Ona’s Raisin Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup flour (level) (looks like 1 Tbsp)
  • 1 Tbsp flour (see recipe above)
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar (leave out vinegar if you add evaporated milk)
  • Butter, the size of a walnut (approx. 1 Tbsp)
  • 1½ cups boiling water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pie dough for a 2-crust pie (top and bottom)

Instructions:

  1. Combine raisins, sugar, flour, vinegar (if not using evaporated milk), butter, salt, and boiling water.
  2. Add vanilla.
  3. Roll out pie dough.
  4. Spread bottom crust with margarine (butter).
  5. Add raisin mixture.
  6. Place top crust on top of filling and seal edges down well.
  7. Bake in a hot oven at 425°F for 15 minutes.
  8. Then lower heat to 350°F and bake until brown.
