(These assorted prayers were found in Mother’s papers. The first one was perhaps offered before Thanksgiving dinner at Kenneth and Peggy’s home.)
Our most gracious heavenly Father, we thank you for the privilege of coming to you in prayer. Accept our thanks this day for blessings, both great and small, for life, health, warm homes, and family and friends. May we stand united for knowledge of thy holy word, and for peace in our land. We thank you for letting us be a part of a caring and loving family. I especially thank you for letting me live for so long to see so many of our grandchildren and great grandchildren who will take our place, here on earth. Lord, we ask thy blessing upon this food, for it is nourishment for our bodies. We thank you for your love, which is food for our souls. Bless the hands that have so tenderly prepared this food for us, and help us always, to love one another. These things we ask in your holy and precious name. Amen.
Our most gracious heavenly Father, we thank you that we have so much to be thankful for, for life itself, our family and friends. We thank you for your love and patience with us. We thank you for your love, which is food for our souls; we thank you for this food, which is nourishment for our bodies. Bless the hands that have so tenderly prepared this food for us, and help us to always love one another. These things we ask in your blessed name. Amen.
Father in heaven, we thank Thee for the closeness we feel as we gather here. Bless the food we are about to share, and as we go our separate ways, be very near. Amen.
For health, food, and for love and friends, for everything Thy goodness sends. Father in heaven, we thank you. Amen.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, the one who eats fastest, gets the most. Amen.
