½ cup shortening
½ cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 pkg. yeast
1 cup warm water
4 cups flour
For cinnamon rolls:
butter
cinnamon
sugar
powdered sugar icing
Combine shortening, sugar, and salt. Add the beaten eggs, and blend. Dissolve yeast in 3 tsp. warm water. Add 1cup warm water, and 2 cups flour. Mix well. Add rest of the flour and mix. Put dough on piece of wax paper or dough board. Knead until smooth. Put dough back in clean bowl. Cover and let rise. Refrigerate until ready to use or go ahead and make cinnamon rolls. Take half of the dough, roll out on a floured dough board about one fourth inch thick. Drop teaspoonfuls of butter all over the on dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon and white sugar. Roll up as a jellyroll. Slice roll about one and a half inches thick and place in a grease baking pan. Do the same for the other half of the dough, or make as desired. Let rise. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or till nice and brown. (I think it takes much longer than 10 minutes.) As soon as the cinnamon rolls come from the oven, drizzle with a thin powdered sugar icing.
