Yields: 8 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups basic white sauce
- 1½ cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled, melted (cooked?), and cut into ¼ inch slices
- ½ cup soft bread crumbs
- 2 Tbsp margarine, melted (or butter)
- Onion slices (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, prepare a double recipe of the white sauce.
- Stir in cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook and stir until cheese is melted.
- Gently stir in potatoes until coated.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Toss bread crumbs and melted margarine together.
- Sprinkle over potatoes. (Optional: Add thin onion slices before bread crumbs).
- Cover and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
- Uncover and bake 10 minutes longer or until the topping is golden brown.
