Aunt Lettie’s Date Nut Roll

2 cups sugar
1 cup pet (evaporated milk)
1 cup finely chopped dates
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla


Cool to a boil, stirring.
Cook to soft ball stage.
Add 1 cup chopped nuts.
Add 1 tsp vanilla.
Cool slightly.
Beat until holds shape.
Pour out on damp cloth.
