Popcorn Balls (Dad’s favorite)

¼ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
½ of a 15 oz. can sweetened condensed milk which is 2/3 cup or I use a small can of carnation evaporated milk.
1 tsp. vanilla
5 qts. popped popcorn

Combine butter, sugar, and corn syrup.  Stir well, and bring to a boil over medium heat.  Stir in milk-stirring constantly till mixture comes to a soft boil stage or 234 or 238 on candy thermometer.  Stir in vanilla.  Pour over popcorn, and stir to coat it well.  Butter hands, and shape into 3 ½ inch balls.  Store in airtight container.

Makes approximately 15 to 18 popcorn balls.

Use stainless steel skillet to make syrup mixture.
